Districts may utilize the Public Safety Drills app to internally store, track and share their public safety drill reports, audits and logs. This article covers the public safety drill requirements for the State of Michigan.

The following table outlines the minimum safety drill requirements for all K-12 schools.

Cardiac Response Drills** (MI Heart Safe Schools) |
1 | Schools who register as a Michigan Heart Safe School must perform one cardiac emergency response drill per year. |
*This may be applied to an existing fire drill, tornado drill or lockdown drill.
**This only applies to MI Heart Safe Schools.
- September 15th – District/School administrators must provide a list of scheduled drills to the County Emergency Management Coordinator
- Within 30 days of completing a drill – documentation of the drill completion must be posted to the district website and must be maintained up to 3 years.
