Public Safety Drill App: Manually Add New Drill Record

Districts may utilize the Public Safety Drill App to internally store, track and share their public safety drill reports, audits and logs. This article explains how to add a new safety drill record manually.

Estimated time:  5 minutes

Adding New Drill Record Manually

Munetrix preloads drill records for the minimum number of public safety drills required in each state in July each year.  Sometimes it is necessary to add additional safety drill records to accommodate additional scheduled or unscheduled safety drills.  All safety drills should be documented in the app, whether planned or unplanned.  Some districts may wish to conduct extra safety drills for a particular type of drill, to redo certain safety drills to overcome performance issues, etc.

From time to time, unplanned or "false alarm" drills may occur - for example when a Kindergarten student pulls the fire alarm lever or a chemistry class experiment goes awry  automatically activatng the alarm system.  These drills, although unplanned or "false" should also be recorded.  If an unexpected live incident occurs it should also be documented.

In cases like the ones illustrated above, it may be necessary to add a new drill record manually to the app for a specific building.

  • Click the Public Safety Drills app.

  • On the Schedules tab, click the name of the school to open.

  • Click + Add New.

  • All required fields must be completed before clicking on Save Button. Select Return to Drills to exit.  (Required fields are denoted by a red * at the end of the field name.)

  • Click Save.

✏️ Notes:

1)  If adding an additional drill placeholder for a planned drill, such as a Cardiac Response Drill or additional Fire Drill, be sure to complete the drill record after the drill in compliance with state requirements.

2) If the drill is being logged after a false alarm occurrence, the entire drill record must be completed.  For these occurrences, Check the box next to the statement, “The above named authorizes the completion of the drill.”   It is also helpful to fill out the Lessons Learned section of the drill record.

3) When Executed - refers to the timeframe conditions in which the drill is scheduled/conducted.  Between Classes, Lunch, Regular Class Time, Recess, False Alarm, Not Required Mandated Closure, etc.
