Export NWEA Data for Munetrix

The Munetrix platform accepts data from a number of assessment providers and empowers users to analyze data in one platform. The following article provides step-by-step directions for downloading NWEA assessment data.

⏰Estimated time:  10 minutes per file

Exporting Data from the NWEA Site

🛠️ Troubleshooting Tips:

  • District Administrator or District Testing Coordinator access is required to export files
  • If exporting data for multiple terms and/or years, you will need to complete the process for each term and year of data you wish to export separately.  Each time, you will need to wait until the NWEA Data Exporter has completed the export file and store it locally or upload it to your district Box folder, before running the export file for the next term and year in NWEA.
  • The NWEA Data Exporter can take up to 24 hours to process a file for an individual term and year.
  • If the district has only populated NWEA with local Student Information System ID numbers, then the district must either:
    • Provide Munetrix with an export file from the student information system with local student ID, student UIC, student first name, student last name, student grade, and building,  OR
    • Update the NWEA rosters to include Student UIC number and the State Student ID field

  • Under View Reports select MAP Growth Reports

  • A new screen will open. On the left side expand the DATA EXPORT SCHEDULER.

  • In this menu select Schedule a Data Export.

  • On this new screen select Enable and a frequency of One Time.

  • Next select the Term and Year of the test to download from the drop-down menu. Only one test session can be selected per export.  You must wait until that download is complete before you schedule another one. The Data Exporter can take up to 24 hours to generate an export file.

  • For Export Type select Comprehensive Data File.
  • For Aggregation select By District.
  • Under Optional select Student Class Assignments. (Required for Munetrix import.)
  • Then select the appropriate Norms.  Data from tests administered before 2020 should use the 2015 norms.
  • Review all selections and click Save.

  • When the data file download is complete, it is available in two different areas. The first place is on this same page.

  • The second place is under the Data Export Scheduler on the side menu under View Reports -> MAP Growth Reports -> DATA EXPORT SCHEDULER.

  • The file will download as a zip folder, with 3 CSV files in it. Simply name the Folder with the appropriate Term and Year, for example Fall 2020.

  • Upload the zip folder to the NWEA folder in the Munetrix Box cloud folder for your district.

✏️ Note:  Box will send automatic notification to your Munetrix® Implementation Manager each time you upload files to Box.com.  You may also wish to send them a courtesy email letting them know you are finished uploading file(s) for an assessment.
